DDS vs. DMD
Searching for the difference between a DMD and DDS degree? Well you’ll be searching forever because there are no practical differences, unlike the differences between an MD and DO degree.
DDS stands for Doctor of Dental Surgery, while DMD stands for Doctor of Dental Medicine. Most schools award the DDS degree as that was first used, but more and more schools are starting to award the DMD degree instead of the DDS degree to emphasize a more holistic medical model. Regardless, to practice in the US both DDS and DMD holders must be licensed by the state board. |
